DESCRIZIONE:From the moment we first visited Italy, Mel and I felt a connection that we never wanted to lose. We would dream of one day making Italy an enduring part of our lives. Where to begin? The Romolini website. Each day I would slip away to their website and transport us into our next chapter, imagining us living the life. So, let’s do this. Mel had recently recovered from a serious illness. If not now, when? It’s our first day on the road with Riccardo and Gionatan. Mel and I had a few places in mind we had chosen from the website. We saw all of those and many more. Riccardo intuitively guided us to a handful of perfect places. “Sensory overload!” I said. His energy and enthusiasm were endless. As we rolled through the beautiful countryside, he shared his in-depth knowledge of the local culture, architecture and history. I scribbled down notes as fast as I could, not wanting to miss a thing. The road to the castle was winding and steep. Once there, we felt we had found our new home - the cypress trees, the thick stone walls, the blooming rosemary, the fireplace, the garden, the rolling hills, the silver olive trees. However we also fell in love with another property, a medieval town house full of mystery and character. What a dilemma - we had to choose! We slept on it. The next day we returned to both to make our decision. I asked Mel “When we are back home and dreaming of our next trip, which image comes to mind?” We chose the castle. With patience and charm, Marta and Riccardo guided us through the curious process. There was an element of “go with the flow” as the pieces fell into place. Their energy and expertise made it all come together. Now, with keys in hand, we have only to think about a crisp glass of wine, a fantastic meal and a view that never ends.
