Having fallen in love with Italy, my husband and I were very eager to find a house of our own in Italy.
We had never been in the area around Anghiari, but got to know it as soon as we got into Riccardo's jeep to view some properties.
Although there was a lot of fog that day, we got to know the countryside well because Riccardo talked lovingly about the area.where he grew up.
He pointed out the places where he went swimming as a kid, he talked about mushroom hunting, wine production...
The more we listened to him the more we were convinced that this was the area for us; lots of peace and quiet, lots of nature and waterfalls and still quite close to the cultural cities like Florence and Sienna.
To top it all, we found the house of our dreams and with Riccardo's guidance and the help of his lovely wife Marta getting through the different stages of the purchasing process was a breeze.
Even now, after having bought the house, we can still count on them to help us with all the different things that we need to do to be able to settle down in our new house (they even went to the bank with us to open a bank account, they helped us get fire insurance...) Yes, we can really say in dealing with Riccardo and Marta, we "landed with our buttocks in the butter" to use a Flemish saying which means that we feel we got very lucky because everything turned out so perfect.
Without their help we wouldn't have been able to do it.
